Mong Kok

These paintings explore a cross cultural and multi generational experience of Hong Kong from reflections of a childhood in England. This ongoing body of work was created from painting from memory, photographs and drawings layered over each other sometimes years apart to express a kinetic dream of separation and connection. The traditional Cantonese district of Hong Kong has always been a cinematic meeting point of cultures, stories and uncertain futures. As the city comes under threat I try to capture this evolving district in transition and ask myself where I am in this dance of past and future across continents.
